How to connect On-Premises Gateway

 Preperations

To connect your data to your portal, Webdashboard uses the secure 'On-Premises Gateway' provided by Microsoft. For extra information about this gateway and to download the setup click here .

Before starting the installer: 
- Run this installer on a machine in the same network that your data is located.
- The data is loaded through this machine, so make sure it's always on.
- The network connection to the data is as optimal as possible.
- You are an administrator on the machine you install the gateway on.

Gateway type:

- The first choice you have in the wizard is the gateway type. Choose the recommended gateway. 

Sign in:

Now that the gateway is installed in your private network it needs to be connected to the portal. Use your publish account en password to connect it to the Power BI backend.
After you are signed in, choose register a new gateway on this compute

 

Naming:

Give the gateway a meaningfull name. Don't add the gateway to a gateway cluster. Set the recovery key and store is somewhere safe.

Connection the report account:

Now that the gatway is connected to your portal, it needs to be connected to your portal report account. For this navigate to this url: https://app.powerbi.com/groups/me/gateways

And sign  using your publish account.

Finalize:

When you successfully completed the previous steps the gateway is now configured.
